How This Number Is Actually Built

Hydration science does not have one precise, universally-agreed formula the way calorie or body fat calculations do. What exists is a reasonable, evidence-informed range: a bodyweight-based baseline, adjusted upward for how much you move and for how hot the climate is where you actually live and train. Someone training outdoors in a hot climate has meaningfully higher fluid needs than the same person training the same amount somewhere temperate, and a hydration calculator that ignores climate entirely is missing a real, significant factor.

Build order
1. Baseline = 33ml × bodyweight (kg)
2. + Activity add-on: 0 to 700ml, based on activity level
3. + Hot climate add-on: +500ml if you selected it above

This is a starting-point estimate, softer science than most of the other calculators here. Individual sweat rate, medications, pregnancy and certain medical conditions can all shift real needs beyond what any calculator can see.

The SanoobFit Position

Thirst is a reasonable guide for most healthy people at rest, but it lags behind real fluid loss during exercise or heat exposure, which is exactly the gap this number exists to close. Hit it as a rough daily target, not a rule to obsess over.

Where This Fits in APEX

Inside SanoobFit's APEX system, daily habits like hydration feed the Nutrition Adherence standard, part of the Stage 1, Foundation, profile and the Metabolic Health program.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to drink 8 glasses of water a day?
The "8x8" rule (8 glasses of 8oz) is a popularized figure with no strong original scientific basis. Real needs vary far more by body size, activity level and climate than one flat number suggests.
Does coffee or tea count toward hydration, or dehydrate you?
Modern evidence shows caffeinated drinks in normal amounts still contribute meaningfully to hydration. The old claim that caffeine is strongly dehydrating does not hold up at typical consumption levels.
Can you drink too much water?
Yes, though it is rare. Extreme overconsumption, especially during endurance events, can cause dangerously low blood sodium (hyponatremia). This calculator's numbers are a normal daily target, not a ceiling to push past.

This tool gives an estimate to guide your plan. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace advice from your own doctor, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or managing a medical condition affected by fluid intake.
